MoodleMoot Italy: Viterbo, 10-12 October 2024

Webable has introduced Brickfield Accessibility Toolkit, for the accessibility of courses in Moodle, which integrates the automatic conversion functionality of the mat

MoodleMoot Italia is the main gathering event for Italian Moodle users, to share research and experiences, participate in workshops, and discover the latest news.

Three days to deepen the use of Moodle both as a learning environment dedicated to online courses and as an integrated environment in face-to-face training paths, discussing the changing scenarios in the field of education, training, and communities of practice.

Webable was present, alongside Brickfield Education Labs, to present Brickfield Accessibility Toolkit, a set of plugins for Moodle that allows you to automate the analysis of the content of all Moodle courses and fix accessibility errors, through a combination of manual and bulk corrections.
The Toolkit also integrates the functionality of automatic conversion of study materials (files uploaded by teachers, Moodle course pages) into an alternative, multimedia, and accessible format.

In her talk: "Accessible content, an advantage for all students: promoting inclusion with study materials in alternative formats", Rossella Welzel explained the importance of providing accessible content, in different alternative formats, to offer students the opportunity to personalize their learning experience. She examined the various types of formats available and their advantages.

Why provide alternative formats?

  • Students can choose the format that best suits their needs and preferences.
  • It reduces the need to declare special needs, making learning more inclusive for everyone.
  • It promotes the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach, enabling an equitable experience for all students.
