The screen reader, used by people with visual disabilities and reading difficulties, does not read what appears on the screen, but what is written in the HTML code.
This is why it is essential to take care of the semantic structure of the content: titles, paragraphs, lists, links, and images must be coded correctly, otherwise they risk becoming confusing or inaccessible.
Have you ever tried listening to your content with a screen reader?
It's a great awareness exercise and a concrete step towards truly inclusive teaching.
At first, it may seem disorienting: the synthetic voice, the speed, the non-visual interaction...
But understanding how a screen reader works helps improve the user experience, for everyone.
Design to be read, even by those who don't read with their eyes.
